School of Spellsword Magic

The School of Spellsword contain spells that enhance combat ability.

Anything that looks like this is a restricted casting – check that your character’s Guild teaches it first before learning it.

Anything that looks like this is a restricted casting that needs requesting from the Character Ref. In addition, your character must be of the minimum rank indicated before they can learn the casting.

1H Weapon <skill>

Effect:
This spell allows the target to use a particular one handed weapon type (chosen when the spell is cast) as if they had a skill level of <skill>.

One handed Specialisation and higher also allow the target to use the weapon to cause Subdue damage as though they had the Subdue Proficiency skill in the weapon type.

This includes Dagger.

This DOES NOT include Fist.

2H Weapon <skill>

Duration: 15 minutes

Effect:
This spell allows the target to use a particular two handed weapon type (chosen when the spell is cast) as if they had a skill level of <skill>.

Two handed Specialisation and higher also allow the target to use the weapon to cause Subdue damage as though they had Subdue proficiency in the weapon type.

This includes Staff.

Throwing <skill>

This spell allows the target to use a particular throwing weapon type (chosen when the spell is cast) as if they had a skill level of <skill>.

Small Shield <skill>

This spell allows the target to use a small shield as if they had a skill level of <skill>.

Medium Shield <skill>

Mystic Life <n>

Range: Self
Duration: 15 minutes/Instantaneous

Effect:
This can be cast in two ways:

  • As a duration effect Mystic Life <n> increases the targets current and maximum Life Points by <n> and maximum Body Points by <n>/3 on legs, arms & head and 2*<n>/3 on chest. All healing effects will function as if the caster has the increased Life and Body Points, including using the instant version of Mystic Life as below. At the end of the spell any excess Life and Body Points disappear.
  • As an instant effect Mystic Life <n> heals <n> Life Points and <n> intelligent Body Points.

Example: Coseon has a maximum of 27 Life and is fully healed. He casts Mystic Life 12 increasing his maximum Life to 39 with the associated maximum Body of 26 on his Chest and 13 on other locations.

He is attacked twice, taking 4 points of damage to his Left Arm and 4 points of damage to his Chest. He is now on 31 Life, 9 Left Arm & 22 Chest.

He casts the instant version of Mystic Life 6, this means he is now on 37 Life, 11 Left Arm & 26 Chest.

When creating an item of Mystic Life you must decide at the point of creation whether it is the duration or instant version. Permanent items can only use the duration version.

<Strength> Strength

Duration: 15 minutes

Effect:
Gives the target additional levels of Strength for 15 minutes, as the Strength skill. This increases the amount of damage he does with a weapon, and allows him to break out of some spells and miracles.

Note that this is not cumulative with any other strength increasing spell/miracle or with any Strength increasing skill.

Mystic Armour <n>

Effect:
Mystic Armour gives the target <n> points of Normal armour and <n> Power armour.

Mystic Blade <n>

Range: Touch
Duration: 15 minutes
Type: Protective
Target: Weapon
Power: Mystic
Effect:
Mystic Blade can be cast on any weapon and adds <n> Power damage for 15 minutes. Mystic Blade 0 causes no additional damage, but does protect the weapon from being destroyed.

The call upon a successful hit is “Mystic <n>”, if the weapon is doing additional damage.

Mystic Dexterity <n>

Duration: 15 minutes

Effect:
Dexterity <n> increases the target’s Dexterity by <n>. Note that the Dexterity penalties for wearing armour and armouring spells/miracles still apply.

Dexterity enhances your natural dexterity, so if you’re not moving it doesn’t work i.e. if you’re paralysed or frozen, it will not help.

Mystic Toughness <n>

This spell increases the target’s Toughness by <n>.

Ambidexterity

Range: Self
Duration: 15 minutes

Effect:
This spell gives the target the Ambidexterity skill.
